The start of 2011 has been very promising. I filmed 4 episodes as a Beauty Expert for a new webisode on Walgreens.com called “Beauty Within”. Head over to www.Walgreens.com to watch “Beauty Within”! The show is all about transforming inspirational women and bringing their inner beauty out. I often tell the young ladies I coach that you need to kind and beautiful on the inside FIRST. The outer layer does not matter if you are not a nice person!
I am still a reporter for El Segundo News and continue to love the city and the people I interview. My pageant coaching business with fellow beauty queen Tara Darby is continuing to grow. My pageant coaching business SASHES & CROWNS is headed to Arizona! Tara Darby and I will be in Phoenix, AZ February 3-8, 2010. We will be teaching a segment on FOX Phoenix on Thursday February 4. As many of you know I have been a correspondent for Real TV Films in Los Angeles for the last year. Thanks to Real TV Films I have been able to hone my reporting skills and travel to the best red carpet events around Hollywood and the country. On November 12, 2009 at the Apollo Theater Real TV Films founder Gordon Vasquez and his correspondents will be accepting the 2009 “Breakthrough Media Award”! I am very grateful for the opportunities that have come my way because of Real TV Films. Thank you to Gordon and the hardworking team at Real TV Films!
In 2008 Mayor Villaraigosa launched the Summer Night Lights program in an effort to lower gang activity during the summer months. From June until September local parks have extended hours until midnight. Traditionally the summer months have the highest levels of gang activity.
On Saturday September 5, 2009 the Summer Night Lights Program, VANS shoes and Soles4Souls are combining forces to celebrate the success of the Mayor’s program. From 2-7pm at the Jackie Tatum Harvard Recreation Center there will be a skateboarding contest. I will be representing Soles4Souls as a celebrity judge. The winners of the skateboarding competition will be rewarded with new shoes from VANS!
